“What do you want it to be?” Jillian asked Kyriel the same question she posed to him every day.

  He always said it didn’t matter, but she had a feeling he had a preference.

  “I want it to be healthy, and beautiful like its mother.” He gathered her back into his arms. “It may be our first child, but I doubt it will be the last.”

  “Slow down, lover boy,” she said. “Let’s get the hang of this one before we decide on having any more.”

  When it came to Kyriel’s notorious gift of fertility, a girl had to be careful.

  “We don’t have to have any more,” he said. “We can just practice making them for now.”

  He kissed her deeply, stirring her passion.
