Jonah Lewis is an artificial intelligence robot who is on a cross-country journey to find a series of letters that his creator left for him after his death.On the surface, Jonah Lewis appears to be an average twenty year-old. He has lived in San Francisco with his creator, Eli, all five years of his life; that is, until Eli passes away from old age. In the days following his death, Jonah discovers that Eli has left behind for him a series of letters that are scattered across the country, each one leading Jonah to a dark, dark secret from his creator's past. During his trek across the country, Jonah is trying to figure out the lessons his creator is trying to teach him while simultaneously questioning his own existence and personal identity, discovering what it truly means to live and be human.
