“I know,” I smiled sadly. I hated the idea of not seeing him, but I couldn’t keep popping out kids just to have him visit me.
Seeing me start to lose my breath from the exhaustion, Sebastian tugged me to sit on the beach. He sat behind me rubbing my back. I felt the familiar hum when he slid his hands under my shirt pressing against my spine.
“Sebastian?”
“Hmm?” he asked rubbing out the tension.
I took a deep breath. “I worry about her angel blood.”
His hands stopped and slid out from under my shirt. He tugged at my shoulder until his green eyes met my gaze. “Are you worried about me?” I eyed him from under my lashes while biting the inside of my lip nervously. I didn’t want to say it, but I was. “Gaby,” he sighed pulling me to his chest wrapping his arms around me. “You don’t have to be. It won’t call to me.”
“Is she not enough angel?” I wondered
“I wish that was the case. Others will still be drawn to her.”
“Because you’re her guardian?”
He shook his head squeezing me tighter. “It’s hard to explain, but she and I have met briefly before,” he smirked crookedly.
“In heaven?” I asked, but he shook his head again.
“I love her, Gaby, but in a fatherly way so she won’t call to me. She’s my gift to you.”
I smiled. “Thank you. I don’t know how you mean, but if she’s a gift then I can only assume there’s a purpose.”
He nodded. “I wish I could tell you more, but I don’t think you would believe me if I did.”
I leaned back into his embrace and we sat like that listening to the water brush against the shore. The next time he visited I’d have a little one to attend to and we wouldn’t be allowed the time to enjoy each other’s company.
“You haven’t chosen a name.” It wasn’t a question. He knew more than I expected. “I don’t want to overstep, but can I make a suggestion?”
“If it’s some female version of your name you can forget it. Ian is the only namesake you’re getting.”
He chuckled. “No. Name her Elizabeth. Call her Lizzy.”
There was sadness in his voice that I didn’t understand. “My middle name?”
He nodded. “You’ve named all your other kids after someone. Mathew is even named after Grayson. It’s your turn.”
I turned to face him. I could hear the lie in his words. “That’s not why you’re suggesting it?”
“No,” he sighed running his index finger down the side of my cheek. “But I can’t explain further. Maybe one day.”
“Gaby?” We turned to the man calling my name. Damien stood roughly one hundred feet down the beach. His eyes widened and he sped towards us. His lips parted and his brow knitted as he looked down at Sebastian in awe. “You were telling the truth. I thought you dreamt him.”
Sebastian smirked. “I’m sorry, my friend. You know how rules are. I can approach the parent’s briefly and then the children.”
“Yes, but it’s normally done in a dreamlike state.”
“I get some privileges with Gaby’s situation,” he grinned before standing and helping me to my feet.
Damien glanced at me with a happy grin on his face. “Grayson was looking for you.”
I turned back to Sebastian. Our time together was never enough. “Go,” he said releasing me. “You’ll see me again soon.”
I nodded leaving my father and his best friend alone on the beach. During all his visits over the years, besides the bond he established with my children, he only spent any time with me.
I found Grayson sitting in the living room when I returned to the house. His face lit up when I approached. He pulled me between his knees and rested his head on my large stomach.
“You were with Sebastian,” he stated.
“How?” I normally had to tell him when he visited.
He glanced up giving me a half grin. “His scent is faint, but it’s on your clothes. I don’t like waking to find you gone.”
“I’m sorry. You normally sleep through his visits.”
“So that means…”
I nodded rubbing my belly. “She’ll be here in the next day or so.” I thought about what Sebastian said about the name. “What do you think of Lizzy?”
He appeared to ponder it. “Lizzy…Elizabeth?” I nodded. “It’s timeless. I like it.”
The door opened and in walked Damien. He didn’t say anything when he saw us. He simply smiled and walked through the house before the sound of a door closing reached us.
“Let’s get back to bed. The boys will be up early.”
We strolled down the hall to our room. Damien owned the beach house. It wasn’t large enough for his entire nest but was enough space that we could all have our own rooms if we wanted. We passed by the door Damien entered and I could hear him speaking with my mother. “He is happy. I do not ever wish to leave you or our family, but I pray that if I did, I would be welcomed again.”
We passed by Shawn’s room. After spending a few days with my boys it seemed they had baby on the brain. I could hear them discussing when would be a good time to start their family.
I stood quietly outside our boys’ room. We had them share one since they shared at home. It was a comforting thing for them. I listened but heard only a hint of snoring.
“They’re okay mama bear,” Grayson whispered kissing my neck. I tilted my head granting him access. He nipped at it, his arms tightening around me. I moaned when he pulled my ear between his teeth. “Bedroom,” he growled.
When the door closed behind us, all other noise fell away. We were in the one soundproof room in the house. A baby monitor sat next to the bed to keep an ear out for the boys even though they all slept through the night, but just incase.
When I became pregnant with Mathew, Grayson and I realized that with both of us having full time jobs—since I had taken over Social Productions—we needed extra help. Hiring a nanny was out of the question. We needed someone who could handle the boys’ supernatural capabilities. I had considered hiring someone to do my job at Social Productions and become a stay at home mom. Grayson knew how much I enjoyed working so he pitched his idea. I hadn’t been for it at first, but the more I thought about his suggestion the more sense it made.
Just before Mathew was born we moved into The Angelo Tower permanently. It had been the best decision we made. We had family surrounding us helping with the boys. When Mathew was born, my mother stepped in taking care of what she could during the night and letting me sleep.
Damien had converted more floors in the tower into rooms so the New York nest had combined with the nest of The First Vampire.
Grayson’s hands cupped my face and his lips slammed against mine the moment the door shut, backing me into it.
“Grayson,” I moaned feeling his hands glide down my body before tugging up my shirt. “I need a shower,” I mumbled against his lips. I could still feel the sand on my legs even after dusting it off. He broke away from me long enough for the shirt to pass between us. He spun us leading me backwards to the bed. When it bumped with the back of my legs, I sat.
He pushed me flat on my back and in one swift move, yanked my shorts and panties down my legs.
“Grayson?” I warned trying to crawl back on the bed, but he parted my legs and buried his head between them. I groaned, my protests stopping the moment his tongue touched me. I was writhing and panting but before pleasure completely washed over me, he stopped.
I watched as he stood stripping out of his clothes. After seven years together, my desire for him never waned and was still as fresh as it had been the first time.
He crawled onto the bed. Grabbing a pillow, he shoved it next to me and I rolled on my side. After four pregnancies, we were experts on pregnant sex. He laid behind me pressing himself into me, joining our bodies.
“It’s going to be awhile before we can do this again,” he groaned thrusting himself into me.
I nodded rapidly. I would heal quickly, but we would be drained from the care of a new baby.
He continued his movements but intentionally kept me from chasing my release. Grayson pulled out and rolled me onto my knees. I stuffed pillows under me to help support my weight when he thrust into me from behind. I moaned loving the feel of him.
Our life had never been ordinary or mundane, but the chaos had led us to where we were. The love we held for each other allowed us to expand our family to our three loving boys and our soon to be born girl. They were a future of a race that no one could begin to imagine. We would be by their sides through every step of it.
Seeing Sebastian might no longer be a regular occurrence but his presence was constantly there, lurking in shadows to keep the ones I loved safe. He would guard them when Grayson and I couldn’t. The angels may have no longer believed that my children were bringing forth the end of times, but it didn’t stop the regular demon attacks. They were frightened over what my children’s future held.
Grayson pulled me flush to his chest. Turning my head I found his lips. One hand toyed with my sensitive breast while the other dipped between my thighs. I moaned feeling the erotic build begin to take over. Grayson groaned against my lips, his body swelling in mine.
“I love you,” he growled.
“I love you too,” I responded before kissing him again. We took solace in these moments together because they too were not a guarantee. With a growing family they were harder to come by and the future still remained uncertain. But in Grayson’s arms I felt that, as long as we held true to each other, everything else would find a way.
After a few moments, the euphoria overtook me, and Grayson’s body responded by spilling into mine.
“Grayson,” I cried out finding my own erotic bliss as his body propelled me over the edge of forever.
