Tatiana jumped up and tried to teleport, but got absolutely nowhere, not even a flicker of power. It wasn’t just me and Gary blocking teleports, I think everyone in the room was, including Steven.

  “You’re all fools, letting him and the slut of the gods lead us around by the nose. This council is a bad joke, and you all know it. He’s dangerous.”

  Steven relaxed back in his chair, clearly enjoying watching her meltdown as much as I was, “I kind of like it, and your paranoia is showing, Gary is… not a threat. A fool maybe, but not a threat. You are.”

  I totally got that, that he thought Gary a fool. He expected that one day, eventually, either Gary or I would betray the other, and as trusting lovers we’d be defenseless when that happened. Of course, he was wrong about that, but I wasn’t going to waste the breath in defending our choices and the fact we trusted each other so completely. A man that paranoid could never understand.

  Bruce nodded, then deadpanned, “Or she can implicate herself, and we can get straight to sentencing.”

  Tatiana turned red in the face, and she ran for the door in a last-ditch desperate attempt to escape. I wasn’t sure who did what, as she was thrown into the wall, her magical charms were stripped away, her power suppressed, and she was cuffed by darkness. I didn’t think anyone in the room had held back, when it came to making sure she didn’t escape.

  Bruce said, “The truth will come out. Not only are you guilty of attempted murder of a council member, and compelling a matriarch, but at least three other gods you compelled, and your also responsible for regicide. I don’t think you’ll be seeing Tartarus when we’re done questioning you and presenting the other evidence.”

  Bruce cast the truth spell, and through the questions he asked and she answered, she was found guilty of all of that and a whole lot more that I won’t bother listing. It was a very long list. When the rest of our justice council was brought in, she was sentenced to being recycled and reborn. So in twenty two years we’d have to deal with the return of the king of the gods and the queen of the gods within three weeks of each other.

  But until then, maybe we could have a little peace for a while. The rest of the council seemed steady to me, even Steven liked it even if he’d sooner die than admit it. I could see it in him.

  I should also mention before I close the page on this, that Kaya did step up, and take over Tatiana’s position on the council. She was the only choice really, but also a perfect choice in my opinion.

  Six months later…

  I watched nervously as the two witches, forty-year-old redheaded twin witches, by the names Kelsey and Meara, checked up on my mate’s pregnancies. We weren’t expecting any problems of course, a goddess’s immortal body tended to work perfectly and without the usual complications, but I was a guy in love and I worried anyway.

  The two twins were still quite attractive, and they looked to only be knocking on the door of thirty since witches aged slower than humans. They were the witches we’d hired to help raise our kids and teach them magic and magical responsibility, but we’d also hired them at the start of the third trimester in Amelia’s pregnancy because they’d also be the midwives at my children’s birth.

  All my mates were pregnant and rounded with my child, although Kaya was about a month behind the others and still in the second trimester.

  Our sex lives had slightly shifted, I did a lot more verbal domination nowadays, since physically dominating a pregnant woman would just… freak me out, really. They didn’t seem to mind. We were just as active as ever, insatiable and not able to get enough of them, or them of me or each other. Part and parcel of living with the goddess of love and goddess of lascivious partying, that honeymoon stage of wild sex just wasn’t ever going to go away. It was what we’d expected, but it was still good to have it verified with time and actual results. I mean, it was just as thrilling for me to plow them now as it was the first time, maybe even more so with the deepening of our love and commitments.

  Despite being blue-eyed and bright red-haired sexpot twins, even at looking thirty, there was also no temptation, because they were married with preteens of their own, and both of them were ex-lovers of my father-in-law. So not even tempted, despite the sexy twin thing it’d be wrong to seduce another man’s wife and far too creepy to get secondhand pussy from my father-in-law. Both were reason enough but taken together the ladies weren’t even slightly tempting to me in that way. Which of course, was probably one of the major reasons Natasha had chosen to interview them.

  They were also extremely loyal to Natasha’s family, so there were no fears that way either. I had no doubt they’d guard our babies with their lives, never mind considering harm.

  Meara said, “They’re all perfect, where they’re supposed to be.”

  Kelsey said, “We’re going to start the baby proofing efforts today, including modifying the wards.”

  “The wards?” Kaya asked.

  Kelsey grinned, “Witch moms totally cheat. Our wards can tell us when the diaper needs changing, or when a baby is hungry or just being fussy, or in discomfort. Takes a lot of the guessing out of it when they’re caterwauling at the top of their lungs.”

  I laughed, “That sounds really convenient. They don’t keep the diapers clean?”

  Meara shook her head, “That would work, but would be stealing bonding time from the baby, so we don’t do that.”

  That was a really good point, now that she’d mentioned it, I understood what a bad idea it would be to do it that way.

  The last six months had been amazingly quiet on the god front. Steven was still an asshole, but Bruce had kind of become a friend of the family, if a wary one. Teresa and Freda hadn’t changed either, but they were all onboard with the council for real, so we really didn’t expect major drama to happen until the king of the gods returned and we had to tell him how to rule. We all kind of doubted he’d like that, whoever it was.

  Truthfully, I was more worried about the next queen of the gods.

  The ladies were all solid now, it’d taken a few months for all the walls to come down between them and Kaya, who was obviously mistrusting at first. Imagine, suspecting my other women were taking advantage of the man she loved, me. That was… crazy, right? But it was all sorted now, and they all loved Kaya, and she loved them.

  The businesses were up and running, Mandy had her law degree to add to all the others, and Natasha had her psychology degree and license to practice. The businesses, scientific research and couples counseling office, were all in the same building. I was running both businesses as planned, even though I was about to start my final semester to get that master’s degree in business.

  Natasha’s business had taken right off, I mean what couple wouldn’t want the counseling they needed from the goddess of love. There was no magical fix of course, and it would take work on everyone’s part to reconcile or reheat a couple’s life, but it certainly didn’t hurt.

  Natasha also went window shopping often, but I was half convinced it was just to get out there so she could give out those gifts of her mantel, which she still loved to do and filled her with serenity.

  Mandy’s business of course, was all internally driven by her investigations and inventiveness. She’d already applied for seven patents, last I checked. My wicked dirty girl was going to change the world. Both Natasha and I were fully confident we’d be getting huge returns on our investments into her business.

  Besides those two businesses, I was also dipping my toes into the Johnson business empire and becoming aware of all their businesses and investments as well as what to keep an eye on. I’d spent a lot of time with the mother-in-law lately, she was determined to turn it all over so she could dedicate all of her attention and efforts to Mark in her second lifetime.

  The big things and big plans all seemed to be on track, and of course real life, being on the move, kept us all on our toes. It was the little things that were challenging, and life often got in the way of our daily schedules and plans, but that was true for anyone, wasn’t it? Gods or not, rich or not, we still lived in the same world and faced many of the same challenges, and money added as many challenges as it removed.

  Kaya had graduated as well in late May, and she was working for the government of Japan in her father’s office, even if she was living here in the states with us. It made the scheduling a little challenging, but not as much as you’d think since none of us needed to sleep, and the ladies took care of those details without me.

  Both Vicki and Amelia were also settled into their chosen challenges, Vicki as my kept woman and our homemaker and party and event planner, and Amelia as a second council watchdog and she was purely focused on council business with her professional ambition.

  Life was good. Really good, and I was pretty sure it was going to stay that way for a while…
