But then, there were those personality transplants. She suspected the only one she could currently count on was Christabel. Dacen was… far away, and she really wished he was here right now, and not just for relief for her… needs.

She shook her head. She needed to face facts, that affair was over, no matter how much she longed to feel him inside her again, taking her, pounding her sex or her tight little ass… she cleared her mind of that, not helping.

It was thoughts of Dacen that did it, despite her worries. And it was more than just a surge of desire and need, she wanted him. For herself, but she knew her father would never approve of him courting her, even if she could get him to chase her until she’d caught him. Which wasn’t ensured, her beloved knight was… damaged, but not broken. Never that.

She wanted to go to her father with all this, except her thoughts about Dacen that is, and see what he thought of it. She’d have done it just a year ago, but she feared even if it was a problem that King Andros would just blow her off and say it was nothing. She couldn’t trust his word, not anymore.

She suspected there was more going on, but she simply didn’t have proof, or enough of a network to ferret it all out.

She froze and her mind emptied as fear filled it, when the whole palace shook as loud explosions went off from every direction. A second later, she slammed up a shield. Despite her feelings toward her father of late, she didn’t even consider another action as she ran for his suite. It was late at night, and he’d either be in his private study working as she was in hers, or he’d be fucking one of his maids.

It wasn’t all that far from her suite of rooms in the royal apartments wing, and she stumbled to a halt as she saw Celestial Knight Vincent looking calm and relaxed standing outside her father’s suite’s main doors.

  “What’s going on?”

Vincent replied, “Don’t know yet, I’m standing guard because of the explosion, since the royal guards that should’ve been here are missing. Your father is fine. You should wait here with me where it’s safe. He’ll be right out.”

It all sounded too relaxed and too pat to her ears, and she cursed herself for being a fool. She hadn’t needed to run here magically blind, and while she had shields up that was not the full extent of her powers. Vincent’s presence should never have taken her by surprise, but she’d let her fear guide her actions.

She spun out a detection spell, just like her beloved knight had taught her so long ago.

It took all of her willpower to keep her face neutral, as she felt the other three knights dueling with Christabel and her father. Vincent wanted her to stay there because he didn’t want to face her on his own, so he was hoping his three fellow traitors would finish the job and join him, then they’d take her out. It would also stop her from joining her father and Christa to even the odds.

Her specialties were mind, illusion, and the elements, the last of which she shared with Dacen.

She gathered her magic and struck hard with mind magic.

Unfortunately, Vincent’s magic protected him from being taken over so easily, as she tried to overwhelm his mind.

A blast of fire came at her, and with a surge of magic she caught it, doubled it, and threw it back, all while she continued her mental magical assault. But Vincent was in his late fifties, and she was just eighteen. She’d never fought a real duel before, not with an equal, and he’d been in more than he could possibly recount.

Energies shot back and forth between them, and she was holding her own out of sheer will and due to her enormous power. But he was her equal, and the duel dragged on.

She smiled grimly, as she felt Regina’s magic blow out and fade, the duel inside the royal apartments was now two to two, and there were only three traitor knights left in the palace.

Then like a blow, she felt Christa’s magic fade and dissipate, and seconds after that her father’s life and magic followed. The last of the loyal knights were dead. At least, of those present. She had no idea where Breanne was, and her only ally was probably locked in a fleet action hundreds of light years away in that moment.

Any second the last two would walk out and join Vincent, and she would die too. She was enraged at the betrayal, at her father’s death, and the sounds of battle in the castle as the loyal royal guards were being hunted and exterminated.

Despite her anger, she knew if she continued this duel that she was dead. Even if she managed to kill Vincent, which wasn’t ensured, the last two traitorous knights would take her down. So she put most of her power into her shields, then ignored Vincent as she focused the rest into a teleport spell. She wasn’t great with that discipline of magic, but she wasn’t too bad either.

Five seconds later she disappeared in a flash of light, the last thing she heard was Vincent cursing up a storm right before the others walked into the room.

She looked around, overwhelmed with grief and shock, but also somewhat amused at where she’d chosen to teleport to. As if running to Dacen for succor and protection, but he wasn’t here. His bedroom had been the first place of safety she’d thought of.

In truth, she feared Breanne had gone to betray and kill him, had left with the two fleets which was when she’d disappeared. It was logical, the insurrectionists would want to destroy all the loyal knights as well as the royal family, or they’d be risking destruction. That made it likely Breanne had gone to see to his death and perhaps the destruction of the fleets.

  She hoped he’d be okay.

An illusion spun out and around her, concealing her lifeforce, magic, and her sense of presence. She would wait there for his return, hidden under the noses of the betrayers.

She couldn’t wait forever, but she’d give her knight time to return for her. She refused to consider that he might be dead, that he might not be coming. He’d sworn he’d always be there for her, and she’d believed him.

He had to come back, and then… she wasn’t sure. She wanted revenge, but they needed more information and to understand where all the players stood, and even who all the players were.

She needed him, and other allies. A queen who stood alone was no queen.

When the fighting slowly died down, and the sound of explosions and weapons stopped reaching her ears, she knew one thing. All of her allies here were dead, and that all save the servants, everyone alive in the palace was her enemy.

She prayed for his swift return, for his sake, as much as hers. She knew the only thing that could prevent him coming to her now was his own death…

Allison was a little embarrassed as she stopped feeding her magic to Dacen, the last of the chasing ships had been destroyed. There were others, but too far away to catch them before they made the FTL line, and their twelve ships would be the only kingdom ships to escape the traitor’s deadly trap.

She was embarrassed, because she really didn’t think about sex all the time. She was a young healthy woman who loved sex, loved it a lot, and yes, Dacen’s cock and the way he used it was the best she’d ever had. By a long way. She’d never had a more accomplished lover, and Riesa, Gia, and Leanne only enhanced that even more.

But in battle or while on duty sex wasn’t something that would normally be on her mind. It was simply because she couldn’t help it. It was like telling someone not to think of pink elephants. She knew he’d feel her thoughts and desires when she linked her magic with his, so she’d told herself not to think of sex or how amazing he was. Of course, that only ensured her mind had gone there, and each time she’d tried to clear her mind and apply disciplined thought, an even naughtier scenario had entered her head.

Needless to say, she was a hot mess, and trying not to show it.

Regardless, she was very satisfied with her decision, it did feel good to be making a difference, not to mention it was a thrill being in battle. The anxiety and adrenaline, the danger, was almost as good as sex was. And for a self-admitted nymphomaniac, that was saying a lot.

But she was also frightened, major things were going on, and in four days Dacen was going to charge into the center of it and take her and the others with him. She never imagined she wind up in the middle of a civil war or major outside invasion, and it looked like both would be happening simultaneously.

Dacen said, “Captain, my crew and I are tapped out. We need to rest, I trust you can get the fleet headed in the right direction.”

  The captain nodded, “Yes, sir.”

  Dacen grunted, “Good.”

He looked weary, and she was feeling pretty burned out herself. Maybe it wouldn’t look so bad in the morning.

He took her hand in the corridor, “How about number three before we pass out?”

Number three? Her eyes widened and her nipples tingled at the surge of lust she felt at that suggestion, and she tried to remember what wild fantasy had gone through her head the third time.

  “Remind me?”

He chuckled in a low tone, in a way that made her pussy clench.

“Why don’t I show you instead.”

  That… would work.

  She blushed.

  Afterword:

I hope you enjoyed the story. This was the second book of three planned for the Celestial Knight series. The next book is War and Treachery. I’d also like to apologize for the mild cliff-hangar, I don’t like to write them, but the main plots of the second and third book were too closely entwined to make a clean break. Regardless, I made sure all the important players were relatively safe in that final moment, despite what happened and what now looms on the horizon.

The third book will wrap it all up, plus some things not quite on the radar yet.
