Hunters of the Gods 6: Were Power United
Loki does not have any special powers, but instead a heart so big and a personality so large she gains the love and respect of many. That capability could mean the difference between living and dying when the battle against a demon comes to fruition.
When Kurtis, Konan, and Miller avoid making their mating to Loki official because of battles and responsibilities, it takes nearly losing her for them to see how important she really is.
Loki second guesses the power of the mating bond and wonders if she is good enough to be the mate of Alphas. The better choice would be for them to take the Alpha of the pack as their mate, and not a regular wolf like Loki. Loki is willing to sacrifice her love for such a strategic move to protect the packs.
When push comes to shove--and an evil spell nearly has them cheating on her--the choice to follow her heart, the were laws, and what the gods intend, becomes questionable, until her mates come to their senses and make it known she is theirs for eternity.
Of course it isn't that easy, with a witch and a sorcerer casting their spells of black magic, or a demon set on taking Loki as a trophy even if his plan fails.

DEDICATION
Dear readers,
Thank you for purchasing this legal copy of Were Power United. As our journey comes to an end, I hope you have enjoyed this mini series. Thank you for being such loyal readers.
I believe many of us can relate to a woman like Loki. She has a big heart, she may be small in stature, but the strength she has, the abilities she possesses may turn out to be far greater than any magic itself. Her love of life, of weres and her fellow people across the land may have the power that is needed to unite a community, a country that is about to be annihilated.
May you enjoy her story.
Happy reading.
HUGS!
Dixie
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendants of the original English speaking Southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true Southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
Enjoy The Countdown and allow your imagination to soar freely.

Prologue
He was breathing through his nostrils and could feel the anger boiling in his veins. His complexion changed to a bright blood red. Horns protruded from his skull, and his bones and muscles multiplied in strength and dimension. Over eight feet tall, a massive form of muscles, evil, magic, and capabilities those wolves were about to get a taste of. He inhaled deeply, eyes squinted as he stared out into the darkness of the night.
“You must be patient, Volkan,” Syncrony said to him.
Volkan knew his team of fellow evildoers gathered around him in the chamber. His castle, his estate deep in the woods in South Carolina. Miles away from the battle that just occurred, and the death of Roovio Gaines. Would those wolves, Saint and Keuric pack, know of him by now? Would they begin to form their armies and search for his location? He gave a soft grin. “Get things in motion. Begin where we had planned from the start. Have our people strike from within. I want the Saint and Keuric packs in chaos and fear not knowing where the strikes are coming from, nor who is friend and who is foe. While you are at it, have that little bitch do her trickery. She needs to get Merker pack and Shay pack so confused that they don’t support Keuric and Saint packs. I want them to all self-destruct, and when they are down, uncertain of their future, we strike hard.”
“Everyone is in their positions,” Syncrony stated.
There was a ruckus outside of the room and the men went toward the door. “Just let the witch in. It’s Delia’s sister,” Volkan said. Just as one of the men were about to open the door, it burst open, sending the man flying backward. There stood Laska, ugly as sin, dark red eyes, long wart filled nose, terrible teeth, and a stench immediately filled the room. She was nothing like Delia. A true beauty. Their one ability in common though, was that they could take many forms. But it would take some serious magic to hide her evil stench.
“Laska,” he said and she bowed her head to him and him only, then looked at the others and hissed as she came closer.
“I want the one who killed my sister. I want her to suffer,” she demanded, pointing her ugly, long finger and nail toward him. Even her fingers had warts on them.
“I thought you wanted nothing to do with this war,” Volkan replied.
She was breathing heavily and then smirked before cackling like a traditional witch would do. Her voice was old, rough sounding, and cracked as she spoke. “I’ve had a change of heart.”
He eased back into his human form, felt his horns submerge back into his head and his coloring change to a normal tan complexion. He crossed his arms in front of his body and stared at her. She looked at him, licked her lips as if enticed by his form, like so many easily were. “Change of heart, or are you angry at how embarrassed you looked in front of other witches and warlocks from other realms on your recent visit?” he asked.
She narrowed her eyes at him. “Delia always had the upper hand on me.”
“Delia was a gorgeous woman and witch,” he countered.
“SSSS...” She hissed at him.
He chuckled. “What do you have in mind, Laska? I can’t allow you to interfere in my plans.”
“The plans that keep failing, Lord,” she said to him and bowed, looking up at him in the evilest possible way a witch could. She could not be trusted, but she was vindictive enough to pretend she was helping him while really getting revenge or whatever it was she wanted. Why not use her like she thought she could use him? He felt her black magic, the evil she had within her. The room felt different because of her, and his men, they retreated to the walls, keeping them at their backs as if that may help.
He sensed her magic, too, but being a demon his evil was beyond hers. He was devious, capable and highly intelligent. There were no others capable of conquering him or destroying his plans. He chose this realm over all others and his time invested would pay off dearly.
“Everything has gone according to plan.”
“Delia’s death
, too?” she snapped at him.
He squinted at her this time. “Of course not, however, her need to kill Alusia became priority. The wolf got to her, and Delia screwed up.”
She hissed again. “She adored you, Volkan. Would have done anything you asked her for.”
He thought about that. He and Delia had a relationship of sorts. They could have made a great team, if he were a team player. He snorted. “The decisions were hers. Now if you don’t mind, there are plans to be made, and wolves to kill.” He stood up.
She raised her palm forward and he paused, then raised one of his eyebrows up at her.
“I have a plan of my own. A way to get close to Shay pack.”
“How? We don’t have time for games, Laska.”
“Oh, there are always time for games when there are wolves to hunt and kill,” she said.
“A particular wolf you have in mind? Alusia perhaps?” he asked.
“No, that is why this plan is so creative. A weak link in Shay pack. A way to infiltrate from within, and grab someone who could be quite important to you as the new leader of this realm.”
He took an easy breath and then exhaled, leaned against the desk again, relaxed and as if bored with the witch, but willing to listen.
“You don’t know everything, Volkan. You don’t know of the wolf who has pulled so many together, uniting them against our evil, and causing the barriers you have yet to come in contact with. I know though. I know of her special ability, a power within her to unite all wolves. She is simple, hidden within the packs, but has been a crucial part of their empowerment.”
“If you’re talking about Alexandra, Alyssa, or her friends that have each become crucial parts of the Saint and Keuric pack, then your information is too little too late.”
“No, it is another. One who remains hidden even from the Saint and Keuric pack. They don’t know of her powers.”
“Great, another wolf with powers?” Syncrony said and exhaled.
Laska turned and stepped toward him and the wolf stuck out his chest and stood his ground. Syncrony was an evil bastard and then some.
“Not powers, but an ability to make people, wolves, gather together and unite. A spitfire with attitude, fighting skills, life skills that have gotten her respect amongst the people.”
“What people?” Syncrony asked.
“The lower class. The families, the workers, the ones who do the physical labor, the security, the cooking, the cleaning, the catering to every whim of the Alphas of Saint and Keuric packs and Shay and Merker packs. They are the ones left behind with nothing but the clothing on their backs and the generosity of Saint and Keuric pack to survive on.”
“Then they will fight for them, not for Volkan,” Syncrony said to her.
She shook her head. “Not if they are infiltrated from within. This wolf has their respect, and the power is beyond magic.”
“Then we grab her,” Volkan stated.
Laska chuckled. “You can try, but be prepared to lose many men in the process.” She smirked.
“Then what is it you suggest, witch?” he asked.
“That you get her to come to you. That you allow me to use the bait I have to draw her in.”
“Why not just kill her if she is so powerful and can bring together the people to fight against us?” Syncrony asked.
Laska stepped closer to Volkan and reached out and grabbed onto his forearm. He didn’t pull back, but stared down into her eyes, felt her evil, inhaled her stench of black magic. “She may come in handy, unlike the other females you previously set your mind on.”
He closed his eyes and saw what Laska wanted him to see. Amongst all the women bowing before him, begging to bare his children, there she was, blonde, petite, stunning, with a sword in hand, fire in her eyes, and he licked his lips and smirked.
He opened his eyes and looked at Laska. “Do what is necessary. It will come to play, and I “will” lead this earth in ultimate power, with a goddess by my side, and a very clever witch as part of my army.”
Laska released his arm and stepped back, her cackle filled the air as she slipped from the room and disappeared.
Chapter One
“Loki.” Kurtis caught sight of her by the main house. She must be heading to see Moisha, the current leader to stray members of Shay, Merker, and Aquana packs. She turned to look at him. Her long, blonde hair whipped over her shoulders and those stunning blue eyes held his. She looked surprised, uneasy, and he didn’t like this feeling. Things had stood between taking her as his mate, and his brothers, Miller and Konan, taking her, as well. There was always something, someone getting in the way. People to protect, battles to fight, investigations to be investigated. He was losing his patience and his brothers were, as well. She smiled softly as he pulled her into his arms and hugged her.
He inhaled Loki’s scent, his wolf nearly growled with need and desire to claim her. He had to make plans, but only after this meeting with Moisha, and ensuring that she was on board to have her packs join Saint and Keuric.
She pulled back, but he held her by her shoulders. She was petite, but muscular, strong, a warrior without fears, and a heart larger than the world.
“How are you?” he asked.
“I’m well, Kurtis, and you? What are you doing here?”
“A meeting with Moisha,” he said, and released her arms and then exhaled.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, eyes scrunched with concern. She was the heart of the people here, and had the ability to bring even strangers together.
He looked to the skies above, though blue, and mostly clear, a haze of evil was felt by all wolves and mystical creatures. The humans among them hadn’t a clue as to what was coming, or that death would soon be by their doorstep. As Alphas to the packs they needed to pull everyone together to not only protect one another, but the innocent humans living amongst them.
“There’s a plan in motion, and we need to ensure that we have as many soldiers, supporters, as possible in this fight. Alexandra is getting the feeling that this powerful evil, mixed with magic and other hidden influences, will be penetrating from within. If we can ensure that Moisha has all these people, wolves, here in the packs on board to back us then it adds numbers to the cause. We would like to get those without training, into training to prepare them to fight best they can when the time comes.”
“Understandable. I can’t see why she won’t accept that. Although she does feel superior here and has kept this pack intact for several years. Taking on wolves from across the United States from various packs is risky business.”
“Understood, but perhaps that support will also help them feel empowered and know that we have their backs, as well.”
“So you just met with her now?” she asked.
“Yes, but she is busy and we will meet again. Are you free tomorrow?” he asked her and stroked her arm. She tightened up and nibbled her bottom lip.
“Why?” she asked.
“To talk and discuss some things,” he said and reached up and stroked her jaw. She licked her lower lip and it took so much self-control to not lean down and kiss her, just ravage her mouth and take what was his, what was going to be his brothers, too. He couldn’t though. He had to secure this deal with Moisha. Find out what she wanted in return for joining the Saint and Keuric packs. He had the feeling the woman would want to ensure some power. She was quite into her position of authority.
“I’ll make myself available if this is important.”
“I think our future together, you, my brothers and I, is very important to discuss.”
Her eyes widened.
He stepped closer and slid his arm around her waist, then pulled her close. “We can’t fight it any longer, Loki. Can’t keep letting other things get into the way of what we all want.”
“I agree,” she said, lips parted and looking so damn sexy. He lowered his mouth to her lips. Didn’t, couldn’t, fight it any longer, and pressed his lips to hers.
