I cut my engine out front of the newly purchased building the Lost Souls have acquired. My clubhouse. I look up at the red-bricked building and a sense of home comes over me. The Lost Souls are now in town and it’s on me to set the path the club takes.

Swinging my leg over my ride, I inhale deeply and walk over to Tor’s truck as she pulls in behind me. Dangling a set of keys from my finger, I ask, “You ready to take a look around?”

Leaning out of the window, holding her hand above her eyes, she shields them from the sun and looks up at the building.

“I may as well, since I’m here.” She smirks and climbs out of the truck. “What about our stuff?” she asks, glancing at the boxes piled up in the truck bed.

“Let me show you around first. They’ll be fine.”

I unlock the door, noticing we need a security system installed, and take hold of Tor’s hand.

“It’s a big space,” she murmurs, looking around what will be the bar. “But it’s so close to the street. Doesn’t that concern you?”

I try to see it through her eyes as if for the first time, and I have to agree. But as I don’t want her to worry, I say, “You’re just used to home, that’s all. When we’re all set up and the place is filled with brothers, it won’t be an issue.”

Letting go of my hand, she wanders through the bar and into what will be the back room. It’s empty as of now, but in time, I’ll have my own table that I sit at the head of.

I cross the space and open the door to a kitchen. I’m guessing this would’ve been the staff kitchen back in the day. It used to be a factory making something I can’t remember, and the front desk is long and perfect to use as a bar. The appliances are old but still in working condition. It doesn’t bother me a bit. It’s not like I’ll be using them often.

“It’s nothing like home, is it?” Tor asks, wrapping her arms around my waist from behind.

“Let me show you what will be our room,” I say, turning around to face her. “It’s gonna be fine.”

Leading her up the stairs, I note they need some work. “We’ve got the entire top floor,” I say, further explaining, “This will be Angel and Rudi’s room,” as we pass their door. “We’ll have to share a bathroom with them, but that’s all.”

Heading up another set of stairs, I open the door to the loft space and grin when she smiles at the clawfoot bathtub under the windows.

“I didn’t expect there to be a tub,” she says, running her fingers along the edge. No one was expecting a bathtub to be in an old factory, but Slade didn’t ask any questions when he purchased the building.

Crossing the space, I lean against the fourposter bed. It was delivered yesterday, along with a new mattress. The rest of the space is empty, and she can do what she likes with it as long as it makes her feel like it’s home.

She’s quiet as she takes it all in, and I give her a moment to process it all.

“I know it’s nothing like Willow’s Peak, but it’s ours. You can do what you like with it.”

Glancing at the brick walls, she murmurs, “It’s going to take a lot.”

  “Whatever it takes,” I vow.

For the foreseeable future, my place is here in the city, and her place is always with me, so I need her to be happy.

Down in the bar, I pull her against me, and she comes so easily, fitting against me perfectly. She winds her arms around my neck and gives me one of those smiles that makes me think I can be a better man. I probably won’t be, but she makes me think it’s possible.

“What do you think of the place so far?”

“It’s cold. It’s like there’s no life here.”

I know she’s talking about her plants and grass and shit, not people. But I still say, “It won’t be long before that changes. Soon there’ll be people and music. There’ll be life.”

She doesn’t look convinced. I add, “This is our world. It’s on us to create it.”

“You might wanna hold down that God-like complex, babe.”

Smirking, I say, “You wanna see a God-like complex? I’ll show you how good God can make you feel.”

Yanking her arms down from around my neck as she giggles, I spin her around and push her back down until she’s bent over, holding onto the bar.

Lifting her skirt up and over her hips, I tuck the hem into her waistband. I undo my belt and push my jeans and boxers down my thighs. There’s never a time I’m not ready for my wife. All it takes is one thought of her sweet, soft skin against mine, and I grow hard for her.

Skimming my fingers over her clit and entrance, she’s just as ready as I am, and since we have company due soon, I don’t intend to hold back. Grasping my dick, I line my tip at her entrance and thrust inside without warning. She cries out and I bury it with every hard stroke and close my eyes, savoring her warmth wrapped around my dick.

“That feel good?” I bark out, pounding into her.

“Yes,” she cries, slamming back against me, meeting my every thrust.

Since there’s no chance of me getting into heaven when I meet the maker, this is the closest I get.

“Whoa! If this is our welcome, we could do without it!” I hear from behind us.

Over my shoulder, Angel and Rudi have arrived. While she covers her eyes, Angel, the asshole, stands there, laughing.

  “Wasn’t expecting you ’til six.”

  “It’s ten after, asshole.”

I pull out of Tor and fix her skirt until she’s fully covered. Righting my jeans, I tuck my hard-on between my waist and my boxers and fix my belt before turning to face my brother.

“We’ll finish this soon,” I whisper to her.

She’s not embarrassed having them walk in on us. Sex to her is natural and everyone does it.

“Hey,” she says to Rudi. “Come on, I’ll show you around.”

Angel dumps their bags on the floor, and I rope him into hauling Tor and my shit inside from the truck, before he grabs two bottles of beer from his bag.

I crack it open and drain half the bottle before jumping onto the bar. Angel joins me and lights a cigarette, passing it over to me before lighting his own.

“Rudi still okay moving here?” I ask, not that I particularly give a shit.

“She’s fine. She has an interview at the local hospital later this week. She was happy enough to settle down in Willow’s Peak, but I know not working in a hospital bothered her.”

The part of me that does
give a shit hopes Rudi loves it here as she and Tor have grown close over the last few months. She’ll be able to help Tor settle in.

“The last time I saw Leo, he said he’s got a couple of guys he thinks will make a good fit with us.”

“He must see something in them to send them our way.”

Inhaling on my cigarette, I blow out a long stream of smoke up into the air and finish my beer.

“Regardless of what he sees, it’s on us to find out who they truly are. I trust him to send them our way, but it only goes so far. Apparently, one of them has a mother who’s been hired to cater an event for Effie. He brought the information to Leo.”

  “I get it.”

My father has put his faith in me to build this chapter to be strong and to follow his every expectation. I’m not planning on letting him down.

“You ready for this?” I ask Angel, tossing the empty bottle into a nearby empty box.

  “Fuck yeah, you?”

I snort. “Like you need to ask.”

Tor and Rudi return down to the bar area, and she pokes her head into the kitchen as Tor slides between my legs.

“It’s not what I imagined, and it needs a lot of work,” Rudi says, coming to join us.

Angel’s arm goes around her, and he wraps his legs around her, locking her against him.

  “You offering?” I grunt.

Snorting, she says, “I’ll help with the kitchen and our room, but the rest is on you guys.”

“The same goes for me,” Tor adds.

As if I’d let her help fix this place up.

“We should head out and find somewhere good to eat around here,” Angel suggests, but I already have plans that need finishing.

“How about you guys head out, and bring takeout back, and I’ll finish what you interrupted?”

Tor’s hand slides up my thigh and I know she’ll be ready for me the second Angel and Rudi close the door behind them. My dick hardens just at the thought.

Angel barks out a deep laugh and moves Rudi from him and jumps down from the bar.

  “What we fancying?”

“Pizza,” Tor tells him, and he grabs Rudi’s hand.

I watch their every step. The moment the door closes behind them, I haul Tor up onto my lap and claim her mouth.

“Maybe you shouldn’t have been so open about what we were going to do while they’re out.”

Flicking my tongue over her bottom lip, I say, “My club, my old lady, my dick. I don’t give a fuck who knows what.”

Grinding herself against me, I need to be back inside her. Lying her down on top of the bar, she deals with her skirt while I climb onto my shins and unbuckle my belt and free myself. Tor drapes her legs over each side of the bar and she’s like a perfect fucking picture—one I can reach out and climb inside.

Resting my arm above her head, my dick throbs, knowing I’m seconds away from being where I belong when some fucker bangs on the door.

  “Fuck!”

“Who the hell could that be?” Tor asks, as I swiftly remove myself from above her and jump off the bar.

I’m getting real sick of fixing my belt when I’m not ready to do so. Another round of banging echoes around the empty bar and I grab my gun from on top of one of the boxes. Standing by the door, I wait for Tor to fix herself and hide my gun behind my back.

She jumps down from the bar and stands behind it, knowing I’d want as much space between her and whoever’s on the other side of the door. Plus, it gives her a level of protection if bullets start flying.

Only, when I open the door, it’s just a guy, hands shoved deep in his pockets and a beanie on his head. From what I can see, the only thing he’s holding is a backpack over his shoulders.

“Yeah?” I grunt, releasing the safety on my gun.

“Name’s Ford. Leo sent me this way.”

I know who he is now, but I keep him on his toes.

  “Why would he do that?”

“He said my talents would be what you’re looking for.”

  “And they are?”

“I’m good in a fight, I’m loyal, and I’m up for anything you need done.”

Putting the safety back into place, I slide the gun into the back of my jeans and open the door wider.

“I’ve been expecting you. Come in.”

Tor sizes him as he steps inside and hovers off to the side as I shut the door and cross the space back over to the bar.

“This is my wife, Victoria. Babe, this is Ford, one of the guys Leo met.”

He tips his chin at her, and she smiles at him. With introductions made, I grab two more beers from Angel’s stash. I offer one to Ford and he accepts, pulling out a chair at one of the tables.

I join him, and Tor slowly makes her way over, sitting at another table, crossing her legs, and resting her chin on her hand.

“My brother said you weren’t getting out for a few more weeks.”

  “Early release.”

“I’m guessing my brother has told you what we’re about?”

  He nods. “He did.”

“And why would you be interested in joining us?”

“Do I really need to talk about that shit?”

“To me? Yeah. To anyone else who asks, no.”

“I noticed your brother and the others before they noticed me,” he says, which I highly doubt, but he carries on uninterrupted. “I saw the way they moved as one, the way they had each other’s backs without even being aware they were doing it. I don’t know, I felt a pull toward it, like it’s where I knew I should be.”

I fought the pull he’s talking about for so long. My father, Cas Jackson, the previous, but legendary, president over the Lost Souls Motorcycle Club, has two sons, and we were born, destined to do great things and be exactly who we’re meant to be. We have big boots to fill, but like our father, we don’t know how to fail.

“The loyalty you saw, what you say you are, runs so deep, it’s second nature. My brother and the rest of the club are prepared to die for one another. That’s how deep it runs. When one of us is down, we all are, and trust me, you feel it to your core. Every time you’ll walk out of that door, you’ll do so expecting anything. If you still think this is what you want, you can stick around. But be warned, if I don’t think you’re what I’m looking for, you’re gone. If you try to fuck me over… I’ll kill you.”

He holds his hand out and I reach out and shake it.

“Earn your place and I’ll give you a patch.”

The door opens and Angel and Rudi return with four boxes of pizza. Angel’s quick to go on alert around our guest.

  “This is Ford.”

Hearing the name, Angel knows who he is from what I’ve told him.

Ford stands and Angel shakes his hand after dumping the pizzas on the table.

“Does he know who we are?” Angel asks me, like the guy isn’t standing right by us.

  I nod. “So he says.”

Tor slips off the table and comes to stand beside me, leaning over the table to open the pizza boxes. From the back and where no one can see, I slip my hand under her skirt and squeeze her inner thigh. Sliding a box toward us, she sits on my lap and bites into a slice of cheese and pepperoni.

Everyone tucks into the pizza and clocking his bag, I ask, “You need somewhere to stay?”

He drops his eyes before nodding. “I’ve got my mom, but if I go there, she’ll have me working for her and putting her nose in my business every second of every fucking day.”

Smirking, I grab my own slice and keep one hand on my wife’s thigh.

“Are you from around here, Ford?” Tor asks him.

Chewing his food, he swallows, and says, “Yeah, born and raised.”
