Kobe turned, draping his arm over Zion’s side, staring down at him with those pretty pale-brown eyes. “I’ll never leave you, Zion. Both of our lives were pretty fucked up. This is our chance to make a new beginning, with each other.”

  Zion leaned up and kissed Kobe, smiling at the peace he felt deep inside. “I’d really like that.”

  Marino pulled the stopper from the bottle out and sniffed. The scent of almonds and vanilla filled his lungs. He wasn’t sure if this was truly líquido de la eternidad. As far as he knew, Liquid of Eternity was just a myth.

  He hoped like hell that he wasn’t making a fatal mistake as he tipped the small vial back and drank down the contents.

  At first nothing happened. Marino was pissed that he had fallen for such a—his heart began to race as his body broke out into a sweat. He gripped the table, the bottle falling from his hands, shattering on the floor.

  And then everything eased.

  Had it worked? Was he now immortal? There was only one way to find out. Walking over to the block of knives on his counter, Marino pulled the long blade from its sheath, lifting it up as the lights gleamed off of the sharp surface. Maybe he was a fool for wanting to try this, but he had to know.

  With a strong plunge, Marino buried the knife to the hilt inside his chest, right into his heart. Fuck, that shit hurt! He yanked the blade free, feeling the pain of the open wound.

  But then it started to slowly close, knitting the skin back into place.

  Marino let out a loud laugh as he tossed the blood-covered knife into the sink.

  Let those Demon Warriors try to kill him now.
