You got them! After all these years, we finally gave you Tweetie and Tedi’s book (if you’re new us, these two first appeared in our Hockey Hotties series, which is where most of the flashbacks happened).
As usual, the pressure is intense when we make you wait a long time for a couple’s story. We weren’t sure when we left these two open ended in Offside with #55, when or if we’d ever get back to them. But readers kept asking for their story so when we plotted The Nest series, we figured it was our best opportunity to bring in Tweetie before he got too old, but of course we made you wait until the final book in the series. He’s not the kind of hero who can be a book one boyfriend, he has to grow on you a bit and make you want to figure out what’s behind the façade.
We did feel a lot of pressure to deliver an amazing story for our long-time readers. Tweetie was so much fun to dig into and figure out, as was Tedi. Their dynamic together surprised us back when we first wrote them in My Lucky #13, and it was no different in their own book.
What changed from our original concept to us writing the book? So many things. Let’s see…
He was going to retire to win her back (but we felt Tedi wouldn’t want that in the end. That she’d want him to have his final years in the league). He was going to be traded (this ended up being a whole timeline problem, and we wanted him to win the cup with the rest of The Nest). The pregnancy was decided in about a day before our editing deadline (but they deserve a big happily ever after with a red bow). Tedi was going to be in a relationship when the book started (we didn’t want the OM drama, plus we got to bring in a character from our new series (although that was decided mid book as well). By far the worst thing that didn’t get in this book because we just couldn’t make it work was a hate fuck between them (when we got to the point when it would happen it just didn’t seem right. Not for them at least). Crossing our fingers that we can add a hate fuck into another book soon! LOL
