“It’s a special occasion,” she said with a wink. I smiled and took the glass.

Pretending to be happy wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be.

After dinner, we all mingle some more. I’m introduced to some more people who have shown up. I swear I won’t remember any of their names. I’ve met Toni’s and Jillian’s guys many times now and I still can’t get their names right. I miss Lina extra hard tonight, wishing I could have my best friend here with me. She was never a religious person, but I look up at the night sky and a smile crosses my lips when a shooting star flies by.

Yeah, she’s definitely up there looking down on me, rooting me on, proud of all the dirty things I’ve done with my guys. I laugh to myself because as weird as that may sound, it’s so true.

I’m sipping on my champagne glass, standing a bit off from the crowd, just taking everything in. Every part of me is happy. This is the best night I’ve had in a long, long time.

“Beautiful, aren’t they?” I look over to the man who has come to my side. I take a sip of my champagne and keep looking up at the stars.

“They are,” I say wistfully. “Breathtaking, actually.”

“Did you know there are about 275 million new stars formed in the universe every day?”

I raise a brow. “Is that so?”

He nods. “It’s an amazing place, this universe. This world we live in. All of it. So big, yet so small. Looking up at the sky, you feel so insignificant. How could you ever be important compared to something like that?”

I hum a satisfied sound, amazed by what he is saying. Because it’s all true. This world, this universe is so big, so complex. And here I am, this tiny being who may not be all that important to most, but I know I’m important to enough people.

  “Congratulations, by the way.”

I turn to look at the man, finally getting a glimpse of his face. He’s very tall, as tall as Thorne probably. He’s dressed well, his suit is pristine, not a wrinkle or speck of dust. It fits him well and I can make out the muscles beneath it. All of the shifters around here are in immaculate shape. His hair is dark brown and slicked back neatly. His eyes though, they’re a bright blue, the only thing light about him. Even his skin is dark. Not in the same way as Castor’s though. This man... he spends a lot of time outside under the sun. “Thank you, Mister…” I inquire, even though I know I won’t remember his name. He reaches out his hand to take mine, a smirk resting on his lips. His hand is large, warm, and rough.

“Boone. Farrell Boone. Pleased to meet your acquaintance, daughter.”

  Author Notes

Thank you to every single person in my life that has supported me on this journey. It

is not always easy, but it is most definitely fulfilling.

A super, special thank you to my entire team: Alphas, betas, editor, proofreader,

cover designer, and more. This story would not be as amazing without your help.

A warm hug for all my friends in the author community. You guys rock!

Last but certainly not least, thank you to my characters for trusting me to write

your story, even though you’re all stubborn and a pain in my ass. Also, for

harassing me in the shower and keeping me up at night. My body appreciates the

lack of sleep and need for caffeine. *eyeroll*

I appreciate honest reviews more than you know. It does not have to be 5 stars or

super long, and it takes only a few seconds.

Please consider leaving one on Amazon, Goodreads, or Bookbub. ♥

  Quell T. Fox

  About Quell

Quell spends more time in her head than anywhere else. She will proudly admit to her status as an introvert whenever the topic comes up—and also when it doesn't. She's cocky, snippy, and lives by her own rules. It's a good thing her fingers are almost always attached to a keyboard or the world would be in trouble.

She's popularly known for writing Steamy Reverse Harem Novels. #whychoose

When Quell isn't writing, she's reading (see introvert) or fulfilling her adult requirement of working

her day job. She lives with her husband, children, and cats in the oh-so exciting state of Massachusetts.
