And through it all, Jase and I have learned valuable lessons. I’ll continue to work on my writing career, and he’ll continue to build incredible buildings around the world, because we’re the kind of people who need challenges to thrive and succeed. But our careers won’t be the driving force of our lives.

  That will be our love.

And the family we make together.

We’ve talked it over, and decided to take a few years where it’s just the two of us. But then . . . God, then Jase wants a small battalion, and I can’t help but look forward to it, because I know he’ll be a wonderful father. The best. And our kids will have the coolest uncle Tyler in the world, and we’ll make Martin an honorary uncle too.

And they’ll have their great-grandfather. The world-renowned artist who is about to turn the art world on its head with the show he’s planning. One where sculpture is the medium, and love is the theme. He says that mine and Jase’s story has inspired him, but really I think he’s just ready to move on from the past and let go of as much of the self-hatred and mountains of regret as he can. His new work is still evocative and edgy, but without the bitterness that’s colored his life for so long, and I have a strong feeling it’ll be a huge success.

Of course, there’s a part of me that can’t help but wonder what Gianna will think of it. That wonders if she’s been following Harrison’s career all these years, and if so, what this new change will mean for her as well.

As Jase carries me into our bedroom and lays me down on our bed, I take a quick peek up at the painting of her that hangs on the wall above our headboard, and marvel at how far we’ve come since that first day at Beckett House all those weeks ago. When he comes down over me, I lock my watery gaze with his heavy, smoldering one, and love how perfect this feels. The way that we can be here together, in this moment, without a single guard or wall or shield between us.

There’s just love and need and the wild, passionate hunger that binds us together.

And a bright, beautiful hope for what’s to come.
