Artur and Rina no longer lived at the cabin, which was really just for temporary guests. They had built a home of their own on her parents’ land with everyone’s help. Being the king’s champion had been a great thing, but having Rina in his life, was even greater.
Rina had thought accomplishing missions on her own was the only way to go, but now with Artur in her life, she loved their teamwork.
The next morning, she kissed Artur. “Were you planning on sleeping in?”
“Nay. Not if we have another mission.”
“Dracolin came by the house and woke me. He said Orion is in need of rescuing again.”
“Explorers explore, document their explorations, and sometimes return home to share their stories, while others perish. I don’t recall in our own history books that warriors were sent out to rescue an explorer who was always getting himself into trouble.”
“Sometimes ships, men, and supplies were sent on rescue missions to save explorers. Remember, Orion is on his own without family or friends to come to his aid.”
“You don’t think Orion’s cries for help are to get your attention, do you?” Artur asked.
She smiled at him as she packed some food for them. “I should never had said in jest that I could be interested in a langolar. Besides, this one is way too needy and he’s not a warrior.”
Artur pulled her into his arms and kissed her. “Good. Are you ready to rescue him?”
“I am.”
“And where should we leave him off this time?”
“How about somewhere more civilized and safe? The Black Hills kingdom or Castle Grande? Maybe they could benefit from his special gifts like we do with Persephonice?”
“Aye, we’ll visit my old haunts and we’ll be welcome. Oh, and Jeremka and Callie are wedding each other soon,” Artur said.
“Then off to Castle Grande we go, after we rescue Orion once again,” Rina said, climbing onto her horse, and Artur soon joined her.
“With a wedding after that and a feast to follow,” Artur said.
“Now that’s my kind of mission, especially when I have a champion to dance with. Well, not any king’s champion, just you.”
“Once you came into my life, I want to dance, when before I preferred to watch.”
“It’s a good thing too.”
He laughed. He knew they were perfect for each other.
