As Emma slowly recalls the events that traumatized her, she’s afraid to tell Travis. Is that sensible? Normal?

Travis’s aunt Cleo is more tolerant of Emma’s confusion than Travis is. Is it typical of men to want to fix things, then get upset when they can’t?

Travis vows to protect Emma no matter what, even if it means keeping her at arm’s length. Can you see his motives and appreciate his personal sacrifice?

When the criminals harmed Travis’s dogs, were you as upset about that as about the harm done to Emma? Have you ever thought of a pet as your best friend?

As Emma begins to recover and remember, some of her memories appear as vivid dreams. Do you recall your dreams? Do they ever actually make sense?

When Emma finally pictures an innocent child, she gets terribly upset. Have you ever acted because of a premonition and then found out your instincts were right?

When Emma thinks Travis was shot, perhaps fatally, she imagines that the Lord has deserted her. Have you ever felt that kind of hopelessness?

Sissy’s father tries to use his child to make Emma tell him where a valuable stash of drugs and money is hidden. Can you see why Travis was so against Emma’s cooperation until he saw what her plan really was?

Travis and Emma manage to communicate to rescue the little girl without a sound. Have you ever felt so in tune with another person that no words were necessary?

In the end, Emma has a choice of how to use her God-given talent in the future. Can you understand her decision to “bloom where she’s planted?”
