For a minute, Tiger Lily was speechless, caught between disbelief and joy. But then, in a trembling voice, she mewed, "It's you...You came back to me."

  The man put down the tail and lifted her tenderly from the display window. She purred at his touch. There was no mistaking who he was now. He held her close and said, "Can you ever forgive me for making you wait so long? There were things I had to do, things I had to learn, before I could come back."

  "But you did come back," said Tiger Lily. "So, let's go home. Together, this time."

  About the Author

  Matthew Brady is an emerging writer currently living in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Belmont University, where he studied writing and literature before earning his bachelor's degree. His short story, "Midnight Oil," was published in the second volume of Nosetouch Press's The Asterisk Anthology (2018), where it won first prize in the Southern Gothic genre.
