When they were done talking, they walked their girls outside and watched them hop into their baby beamers. Even as adults they still dressed alike, drove the same cars, and did everything together. Sharonda always told them if they don’t have nobody else, they still had each other. They gave them kisses and told them to drive safely and to call them when they made it back to Coral Gables.

Donnell looped his arm around Sharonda’s waist and smiled. “We did a good job baby.”

“We did, didn’t we?” She blushed gazing into his eyes, still feeling those familiar butterflies when he touched her.

“From the court to the heart.”

She shook her head. “Yep, from the court to the heart.”

When they got back inside, Sharonda called Pinky and put it on speakerphone. Pinky was now a respiratory therapist, and Stacks had his own landscaping business and also built houses, which made him a lot of money. Most of the dope boys from the 90’s era were either dead, in jail, or had flipped the money and made good use of it. Pinky still didn’t have any kids and was crazy as ever.

“Pinky, are you all about ready?” Sharonda asked, leaning on the massive, marbled waterfall island in her kitchen.

“Shit, I will be if Stacks hurries his raggedy ass up. We’ll meet you there in about thirty minutes.”

“Aw don’t blame me. You spent an hour trying to curl some hair that ain’t even there.” Stacks spat in the background.

Pinky laughed. “Your baldheaded ass mama.”

“What I tell you about talkin’ about my mother?”

“What I tell you about talking about my hair?”

“Pinky!” Sharonda blurted as she and Donnell both laughed at them. “Look, handle ya’ll business we’ll be there in thirty girl.”

“Okay, bye!” Pinky hung up the phone leaving Donnell and Sharonda still laughing.

After they made sure the alarm was set, they walked out in the direction of Donnell’s Maybach. Of course he didn’t allow Sharonda to open the door herself. Nothing had changed. When they pulled off, he lit his cigar and cruised the streets while bopping his head to the sounds of an Oldie Goldie. ‘Tender Kisses’ by Tracie Spencer played as they snapped their fingers and sang along. When they got to the red light, Donnell glanced at his wife and placed her hand into his free hand.

“You remember this night baby?” He thought back to the night she had lost her virginity. They had been at a house party prior to that slow grinding to this very song which set the mood.

She smiled and licked her lips. “I remember. I can never forget.”

  “I love you, Donnell.”

“I love you too Sharonda. I’m glad we made it last forever.”

“Me too.” She blushed. When the light turned green, they pulled off into the sunset reminiscing on the 90’s where it all started at. What a time to be alive, a time they can never get back, but a time they would always appreciate because they found love with each other.

  The End!
