  Tom STANDAGE IS BUSINESS EDITOR at the Economist and the author of A History of the World in 6 Glasses, The Victorian Internet, The Turk, and The Neptune File. The Victorian Internet was made into a documentary, "How the Victorians Wired the World." He has written about science and technology for numerous magazines and newspapers, including Wired, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, and the New York Times. He lives in Greenwich, England, with his wife, daughter, and son.
