“We don’t really know, but it was dozens.” Tavvy said.

“And it would have been more if you hadn’t stopped him.” Jacob added.

Bubba struggled to his feet, but with Jacob and Preacher Mason helping, he managed to stand. As the group started walking toward the street, Bubba turned to Jacob. “You get your bone out of Kitner’s arm?”

“Yes, I did. All the relics of my people are now back where they belong — in the hands of the Creek.”

“Well, then I reckon you’ll be wanting this.” Bubba held out the sword.

Jacob took it, stared at it for a moment, then handed it back to Bubba. “I think it would be better for you if I did take this. I still think it bodes ill for you and yours, Bubba, and I don’t wish pain and suffering on anyone. But something else tells me that you need it to complete your work. So take the sword, and remember you have friends with the Creek as long as you shall bear it.”

“And you can come get liquored up with me any time you want to, Jacob.” Bubba replied. They all laughed and limped down the stairs into the street, headed home.

Currently, David is busy polishing several projects including an epic super hero novel, several short stories, and a number of fresh musical murder mystery plays.

John G. Hartness: John is a teller of tales, righter of wrongs and some call him the Pompetus of Love. Okay, maybe he’s an urban fantasy and horror author from Charlotte, NC with a background in theatre and a love for fried pickles and loud music. John is the author of The Black Knight Chronicles from Bell Bridge Books, available in the fall of 2012 wherever books or ebooks are sold. He’s also the creator of the comedic horror icon Bubba the Monster Hunter, and the short stories that bear his name.

John is also a member of the Magical Words group writing blog (www.magicalwords.net) and the host of the YouTube series Literate Liquors, where he pairs fantasy and science fiction novels with the appropriate alcohol. Hilarity often ensues. He can be found online at www.johnhartness.com and spends too much time on Twitter (@johnhartness), especially after a few drinks.

Jeremy Hicks: A native of Alabama, Jeremy spent several years working as a field archaeologist throughout the Southeast before teaming up with his longtime friend and co-author, Barry Hayes, to realize a shared creative dream. The writing team of Hicks & Hayes created an original horror-fantasy environment (Faltyr™), wrote a screenplay (The Cycle of Ages Saga: Finders Keepers) to introduce it, and then adapted it into a novelization of the same name. As a result, their first novel will be published by Dark Oak Press and Media in the summer of 2013.

As co-founder of Broke Guys Productions, Jeremy has co-written three other as-of-yet unproduced screenplays, including the first sequel to CoAS: Finders Keepers. Another of his screenplays, a darkly comedic horror tale about meth zombies plaguing a trailer park in Alabama, placed as a Top Finalist in the 2011 Cherub Films Horror Screenplay Competition under the title Night of the Living Rednecks.

Jeremy Hicks is also a short story writer, poet, and infrequent Yahoo! contributor. Three of his poems (It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fascism, Do Not Waver, and Midnight Dzohkar) are available online via Yahoo! Voices.

Andrea Judy: Andrea is a writer, and professional pixie. She makes her home in Atlanta, Georgia and enjoys causing mischief by talking non-stop about Internet memes and all of the stories she’s working on. She has had poems and short stories appear in various literary magazines, and had her first original one-act play performed at a local university. She is returning to her roots in genre fiction, especially steampunk.

Robert J. Krog: Robert is the author of the collection, The Stone Maiden and Other Tales, and the novella, A Bag Full of Eyes. He has numerous short stories in various publications. He is a native of Memphis, TN, and probably the most over-educated and inappropriately educated lawn care spray tech you’re likely to meet. He is a regular author guest at various conventions in and close to the MidSouth.

  His website is: www.krogfiction.yolasite.com

  D. Alan Lewis: In 1965, an object fell from space, somewhere near Kecksburg, PA. This was the same year that Alan was born. To date, no connection has been made between the two events but that hasn’t stopped the conspiracy theorists from speculating.

  D. Alan Lewis is an ‘alleged’ native of Chattanooga, Tennessee who now resides in Nashville with his children. In 2006, Alan took the reins of the NWMG’s Novelist Group where he works with aspiring writers.

Alan’s debut novel, a fantasy murder mystery, The Blood in Snowflake Garden was a finalist for the 2010 Claymore Award. In 2013, he has 2 books coming out, The Lightning bolts of Zeus and The Bishop of Port Victoria. He also has short stories in a number of anthologies, including Dreams of Steam 4, Nashville Noir, Beyond the Skyline, Comfort Foods, Black Pulp, and Midnight Movie Creature Feature Vol.2.

Alan is also editing 2 additional anthologies for Dark Oak that will be out soon.

Logan L. Masterson: Logan was born in southern Missouri, and traveled the American southwest throughout his early life. He became rooted in ideas rather than places: home is literally where the heart is. Having developed an early fascination for words, the writing process is not second nature, but first. A published poet, he also covers theatre for Examiner and ArtsNash. Learn more at www.agonyzer.com

John A. McColley: John lives in a vortex of worlds, characters, machines and language, constantly dragging images and forms out of the storm onto canvas, paper or computer screen to share them with others and give them new life. When not wrestling with words, he cranks dials and makes sparks at his local hackerspaces and searches the wilds of New Hampshire for semi-precious stones with his fiancée. He's published two stories in other anthologies this year and looks forward to many more. He has an author page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/John-A-McColley/105420682981117

and a blog http://johnamccolley.wordpress.com/ that he'd love for you to visit.

Adam Millard: Adam is the author of thirteen novels and more than a hundred short stories, which can be found in various collections and anthologies. Probably best known for his post-apocalyptic fiction, Adam also writes fantasy/horror for children. He created the character Peter Crombie, Teenage Zombie just so he had something decent to read to his son at bedtime. Adam also writes Bizarro fiction for several publishers, who enjoy his tales of flesh-eating clown-beetles and rabies-infected derrieres so much that they keep printing them. His “Dead” series has recently been the filling in a Stephen King/Bram Stoker sandwich on Amazon’s bestsellers chart. When he’s not writing about the nightmarish creatures battling for supremacy in his head, Adam writes for This Is Horror, whose columnists include Shaun Hutson, Simon Bestwick and Simon Marshall-Jones.

Nikki Nelson-Hicks: The last recorded sighting of Nikki Nelson-Hicks was in Inglewood, a subdivision of Nashville, TN. She was heard muttering, “That’ll show ‘em! Eat my last Chips Ahoy, the cookie stealing summamitches!” and wearing only flannel bottoms and a black rhinestone studded bra. She is a writer/editor for Pro Se Productions and has stories included in the anthologies, Soundtrack Not Included and Nashville Noir (both available on Amazon.com). Known to post trivial dribble on her blog, www.nikcubed.blogspot.com and has a rabid Facebook fandom. Her last known project was as the editor for the horror anthology, Comfort Foods. Described as ‘the lovechild of Flannery O’Connor and H.P. Lovecraft’ and a ‘damn good shag’, this person is terribly desperate for validation. If you see Nikki Nelson-Hicks please approach cautiously with handfuls of chocolate or a tumbler of Gentleman Jack on ice. Or a basket of kittens. Or a basket of money. Or a basket of kittens wrapped in money. Dipped in chocolate.

Brent Nichols: Brent is a Canadian writer of steampunk, science fiction, and fantasy. His stories can be found in the anthology Shanghai Steam from Edge Publishing and in eSteampunk Magazine. His novel Lord of Fire will be released by Double Dragon Publishing in 2014.

Magazine, Static Movement's Behind Closed Doors and Long Pig anthologies. His first fantasy ebook, Stone Cold Countenance, has been published by bibliocracy. com.

Herika R. Raymer: Herika grew up consuming books - first by eating them, later by reading them. Her mother taught her the value of focus and hard work while her father encouraged her love literature and art; so she has been writing and doodling off and on for over 30 years. After much encouragement, Mrs. Raymer finally published a few short stories and has developed a taste for it. She continues to send submissions, sometimes with success, and currently has a collection of stories in the works. A participant of the voluntary writer / artist / musician cooperative known as Imagicopter, Herika R. Raymer is married with two children and a dog in West Tennessee, USA.

Christopher J. Valin: Christopher is a writer, artist, historian, and teacher living in the Los Angeles area with his wife and two children. His short stories have appeared in several anthologies, including The Artifact: An Anthology, Keys: Unlocking the Universe, Doomed: Tales of the Last Days, Love Is a Many-Splintered Thing, and Therapy Sucks, and he was co-author of Under a Vanishing Moon. His reviews of television shows and movies have appeared on various websites, including PopSyndicate.com, Mediasharx.com, and ZENtertainment.com.

Christopher is also the 5x great-grandson of the subject of his first Fireship Press book, Fortune’s Favorite: Sir Charles Douglas and the Breaking of the Line, and the 4x great-grandson of the author of another Fireship book which he edited and annotated—Sir Howard Douglas.

Azrael Wolf: After a lifetime of running with the werewolf packs of Dixie, Azrael settled down in middle Tennessee and dove headfirst into the IT field. He is working on several projects for 2014, including a collection of werewolf and steampunk children’s stories.
