“Mel, you’re scaring me.” His whisper is rough and husky; his eyes pleading. An anxious laugh breaks free, because how, for one second, can he think this is an ending? It’s the next step in living the life of my dreams.

  “Please don’t be scared, Alex. I need you to know how much I love you, that I can’t for one minute, imagine doing the rest of my life without you by my side. You’ve become my home, my safe space. I’m no longer lost. Please, will you do me the honour of marrying me?” The words come out in a rush, and I curl my lips inward to stop myself from blathering.

  His eyes are as wide as saucers and tears well in them. He chokes as he tries to get the words out.

  “Baby… Melody.” He squeezes my hands tightly. “I… yes, of course. Jeezus, I thought for a minute you were breaking up with me.”

  “Never. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

  He nods his head vehemently. “Me too. You’ve shown me that love doesn’t come with obligation, that it doesn’t have to weigh me down and get in the way of my dreams. That it helps my dreams come true. This last year, the support you’ve given me at every turn has just been incredible. And to watch you grow your business and step into being the incredible woman I always knew you were. Fuck, Mel. I love you so fucking much. And it’ll be an honour to do it all by your side.”

  He releases my hands to grasp my cheeks as he bends down to plant a huge kiss on my lips. He laughs as he pulls away, and it’s a sound of utter delight.

  “You know you’ve made my whole life by proposing naked and full of my cum, right?”

  I chuckle. “I planned it that way,” I tell him with a smirk. “I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy, Alex.”
