  A NOTE ON THE AUTHOR

  John Prados was born in New York City and studied history and international relations at Columbia University, where he received a Ph.D. Since the 1970s he has been a leading historian of national security affairs, intelligence operations, and international security concerns. He has written more than a dozen books in the field, many of them prizewinners. He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
