I want to extend a special thank you to all the people who acted as readers, editors, and supporters to help make this book the best it could be:

To Cate Perry for her exceptional developmental edits, to Audrey Mackaman for her skillful copyediting services, and to Natasha Brown for an amazing cover design. To Jean Galiana for her valuable insights, reading every version of the manuscript and always being a friend.

To the valuable readers whose feedback polished the story:

Anjali Banerjee, Ashley McConnaughey, Cameron Chandler, Cherise Hensley, Karen Brees, Katie Flanagan, Laura Whittenburg, Maddy Bullard, Michaelene McElroy, Natalie Carlisle, Rebecca Berus, Ron Wilkinson, Rowena Williamson, Siri Bardarson, and William Dietrich. And a thank you to all of my ARC readers for stepping up.

To my river friends, without you there would be no story:

Barbara, Paula, Linda, Steve, Jesper, Ruth, Susan, and Mark.

Thank you to Tracey Garvis-Graves, Melissa Foster, and Bharti Kirchner.

And to Justin and Geneva for believing in me.

To everyone at Just Write at Local Grown, where most of this book took form, thanks for being there.
